Dear colleagues,
The Department of English Language and Literature, Faculty of Education, Masaryk University, Brno, Czech Republic is pleased to announce The Tenth Brno Conference on Linguistics Studies in English, which will be held in Brno on 4-5 September 2023.
The topic of the 2023 BCLSE is "Looking beyond the surface of the text". We hope that this perspective will allow us to explore the English language as a multifaceted, multidimensional and variable phenomenon and to reveal how aspects of the language, such as form, structure, meaning and function, work together to meet people’s communicative needs in specific contexts. We believe that combining various approaches and drawing on tools pertaining to linguistic disciplines is a necessary condition of contemporary linguistic research.
We particularly welcome contributions focusing on:
- corpus-based analysis of English language discourse
- cross-cultural and cross-linguistic research
- study of multimedia genres and new trends in communication
- pragmatics of English language discourse
- specialised discourses
- English as a global/international language
- mind, cognition and language
